The Sauna Haus

Complementary therapies used in conjunction with healthy lifestyle choices create an optimal quality of life.

The Sauna Haus offers two natural wellness therapies that can provide numerous health benefits. Sauna therapy can help ease tension by relaxing in a medical-grade infrared sauna for 40 minutes while enjoying the benefits from rejuvenating your skin to detoxifying your body. For salt therapy, relax in one of our salt rooms for 45 minutes while breathing in micro-particles of salt, which aid in detoxifying the respiratory system and repairing the skin. To deepen the relaxation experience, we offer acoustic resonance therapy in the salt rooms and saunas. It’s like a musical massage!

What is sauna therapy?

Traditional steam saunas range from 180° to 200°F. Steam from conventional saunas make the air difficult to breathe and cause you to only sweat at the surface of the tissue. Infrared saunas use a soothing dry infrared heat that is effective at a comfortable 120° to 150°F. This lower temperature results in a much more comfortable experience while achieving maximum results.

Infrared saunas increase the body’s core temperature, resulting in a much deeper, more detoxifying sweat from the cellular level of the skin where many toxins are housed. An infrared sauna has the potential to excrete up to six times more toxins from the deep layers of your skin. Fat, heavy metals, chemicals, and unwanted acids are excreted through sweat, creating an amazing way to detoxify your body all while burning up to 600 calories.

By penetrating the skin (up to 1 1/2 inches deep), infrared rays stimulate the tissues, muscles, organs and joints, causing an acceleration of blood flow, increased healing and increased metabolism. This can also result in a strengthened immune system and increased muscle strength by enriching the tissues with oxygen.

The Power of Infrared Light

Infrared light is part of the sun’s invisible spectrum of light that has the ability to penetrate the human tissue. Infrared heat therapy uses these infrared light characteristics to heat the body directly rather than just heating the air. The experience of an infrared sauna is similar to sunbathing, which gives you the radiant heat that is all your own. The infrared heat penetrates your skin, giving you that wonderful natural warmth. Unlike sunbathing, infrared heat therapy is completely healthy and safe.

You can relax in an infrared sauna and it will never cause your skin to burn. Infrared is the healing wavelengths of the sun and is essential to life. It is the part of the invisible light spectrum that safely resonates with human tissue without heating the surrounding air. Since infrared is produced by the human body, infrared can be a natural and safe way to repair the body. Using infrared in specific wavelengths gives us the power to restore the entire body.

Sauna Therapy Benefits

Detoxify

Sweating is good for you. It is the body’s safe and natural way to stay healthy. Far infrared sauna detoxification happens by heating the body directly, causing a rise in core temperature. This results in a deep, detoxifying sweat at the cellular level, where toxins reside.

Far infrared saunas are more effective in moving toxins than traditional
saunas because in a far
infrared sauna only
80 to 85% of the
sweat is water with the
non-water portion being
other toxins

Relax

Unlike traditional saunas, which operate at extremely harsh temperatures, infrared produces a gentle, soothing and therapeutic heat that promotes relaxation and improved sleep. Infrared sauna benefits include therapy that helps you relax while receiving an invigorating deep-tissue sweat, leaving you fully refreshed after each session.

physicians are for
stress-related problems

Weight Loss

Studies have shown that benefits of an infrared sauna session can burn upwards of 600 calories while you relax! As the body works to cool itself, there is a substantial increase in heart rate, cardiac output and metabolic rate, causing the body to burn more calories.

400-600
calories in one

Pain Relief

Infrared sauna heat penetrates tissue, joints and muscles to assist with relief from minor aches and pains to chronic pain conditions such as fibromyalgia. Pain management professionals incorporate infrared sauna heat therapy into treatment plans to decrease pain and muscle spasms and to speed up recovery time.

Studies show that
nearly 70% of
chronic pain patients
experienced a significant
reduction in pain levels
after the first session of
infrared sauna therapy

Lower Blood Pressure

Infrared saunas induce a deep sweat to make the heart pump faster, which in turn can increase blood flow, lower blood pressure and help with circulation. Scientific evidence shows the benefits of using an infrared sauna a couple times a week lowers blood pressure.

Blood pressure
decreased on average of
130.5 to 124
in those that use
infrared sauna treatment

Improve Circulation

Heating the muscles with infrared rays can produce an increase in blood flow similar to that seen during exercise. Regular infrared sauna use – especially in the mid infrared range – can significantly stimulate blood flow up to twice the normal rate.

Blood flow during infrared
sauna use can rise from a
normal rate of 5-7 quarts
per minute to as much as
13 quarts per minute

Anti-Aging & Skin Purification

Forego expensive cosmetic treatments that may have limited effects or questionable long-term safety. Instead, rejuvenate your skin while also receiving all of the other health benefits associated with infrared sauna therapy.

Reduce wrinkles and
crow's feet, improve overall skin tone, including softness, elasticity and firmness in as little as 12 weeks using near-infrared technology

Heal Wounds

Scientific research has concluded that near infrared therapy greatly enhances the skin’s healing process by promoting faster cell regeneration and human tissue growth. Human cell growth increases to repair wounds and prevent infection.

Strengthen Immune System

Near infrared light therapy stimulates the circulatory system and more fully oxygenates the body’s cells. Better blood circulation means more toxins flow from the cellular level to the skin’s surface to improve cell health, aid in muscle recovery and strengthen the immune system.

Why Us

Most saunas contain only far infrared wavelengths, which penetrate the body at the cellular level where toxins are stored. The Sauna Haus uses Sunlighten® saunas, which contain the first and only patented, medical-grade Solocarbon® 3-in-1 heaters that provide near, mid and far infrared at optimal wavelengths based on clinical studies. The mid infrared wavelengths penetrate where inflammation occurs. This increases circulation, which allows oxygen to reach injured areas of the body. The near infrared wavelengths penetrate the surface of the skin, allowing for faster cell regeneration. Full spectrum wavelengths provide more benefits in each session beyond detoxification and weight loss.

In addition to the seven saunas that can seat up to three people, we have a larger sauna that is ADA compliant.

Chromotherapy

To enhance your sauna experience even more, each sauna contains chromotherapy lighting.

Chromotherapy is the science of using colors to adjust body vibration to frequencies that result in health and harmony. Each color possesses frequencies of a specific vibration at each vibration is related to different physical symptoms.

Our bodies need the sun’s light to live. And that light can actually be broken down into a seven-color spectrum. An imbalance of any of those colors can manifest itself and physical and mental symptoms. Color therapy works on various energy points to help balance your body via the full spectrum of visible light, each color addressing a distinct need.

Chromotherapy Colors

Energy

Excitement, Sensuality, Warmth, Stimulation, Vitality

Red supports circulatory and nervous functions. Red is believed to increase the pulse, raise blood pressure and increase the rate of breathing. In addition, red activates collagen cells and helps stimulate skin to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Pleasure

Resourcefulness, Enthusiasm, Happiness, Sociability, Success

Orange stimulates mental activity and optimism. Orange hues can also activate and eliminate localized fat.

Cheerfulness

Inspiration, Mental Clarity, Empowerment, Confidence, Joy

Yellow is believed to awaken mental inspiration and a feeling of joy. This color can also purify the skin, help with digestion and strengthen the nervous system.

Balance

Stress Reduction, Peace, Love, Harmony, Calm

Green is associated with harmony and provides a neutral, positive calming effect. Green can help individuals who suffer from Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD).

Calming

Tranquility, Soothing, Peace, Calm, Cooling

Blue promotes relaxation and calm. Blue exhibits tranquilizing qualities often used to relieve headaches and migraines, colds, stress and nervous tension. Some research has shown that blue lights kill bacteria which makes this color good for reducing acne.

Purifies Thoughts

Intuition, Compassion, Empathy, Inspiration, Awareness

Violet color light therapy has been shown to help individuals with chronic pain conditions, such as multiple sclerosis or fibromyalgia, maintain a sense of “mind over matter”. The violet hue calms the nervous system, soothes organs and relaxes muscles.

Acoustic Resonance Therapy

Acoustic Resonance Therapy combines the healing effects of sound and vibration to harmonize all systems of the body bringing you to a deeper state of relaxation.

Listening to soothing music and feeling it resonate throughout the body stimulates the body’s natural relaxation response. It feels like a light touch massage during your sauna session.

When Not To Use

Do not use if pregnant, have serious inflammation, a fever, a communicable disease, acute bleeding, or intoxicated.

Individuals who are using prescription drugs should seek the advice of their personal physician or a pharmacist for possible changes in the drugs effect when the body is exposed to infrared waves or elevated body temperature. Diuretics, barbiturates and beta-blockers may impair the body’s natural heat loss mechanisms. Anticholinergics such as amitryptaline may inhibit sweating and can predispose individuals to heat rash or to a lesser extent, heat stroke. Some over-the-counter drugs, such as antihistamines, may also cause the body to be more prone to heat stroke.

Individuals with cardiovascular conditions or problems (hypertension / hypotension), congestive heart failure, impaired coronary circulation or those who are taking medications which might affect blood pressure, should exercise caution when exposed to prolonged heat. Heat stress increases cardiac output and blood flow in an effort to transfer internal body heat to the outside environment via the skin (perspiration) and respiratory system. This takes place primarily due to major changes in the heart rate, which has the potential to increase by thirty (30) beats per minute for each degree increase in core body temperature.

Contrary to popular belief, it is not advisable to attempt to “sweat out” a hangover. Alcohol intoxication decreases a person’s judgment; therefore, he/she may not realize when the body has a negative reaction to high heat. Alcohol also increases the heart rate, which may be further increased by heat stress.

Multiple Sclerosis, Central Nervous System Tumors and Diabetes with Neuropathy are conditions that are associated with impaired sweating.

The use of infrared saunas should be avoided by anyone who is predisposed to bleeding.

An individual who has a fever should not use an infrared sauna until the fever subsides.

An individual with insensitivity to heat should not use an infrared sauna.

Pregnant women should consult a physician before using an infrared sauna.

Heating of the low back area of women during the menstrual period may temporarily increase their menstrual flow.

The ability to maintain core body temperature decreases with age. This is primarily due to circulatory conditions and decreased sweat gland function. The body must be able to activate its natural cooling processes in order to maintain core body temperature. When using with the elderly, operate at a lower temperature and for no more than 15 minutes at a time.

If you have a recent (acute) joint injury, it should not be heated for the first 48 hours after an injury or until the swollen symptoms subside. If you have a joint or joints that are chronically hot and swollen, these joints may respond poorly to vigorous heating of any kind.

Metal pins, rods, artificial joints or any other surgical implants generally reflect infrared waves and thus are not heated by this system. Nevertheless, you should consult your physician prior to using an infrared sauna.

The magnets used to assemble our wooden saunas can interrupt the pacing and inhibit the output of pacemakers. Please discuss with your doctor the possible risks this may cause.

The core body temperature of children rises much faster than adults. This occurs due to a higher metabolic rate per body mass, limited circulatory adaptation to increased cardiac demands and the inability to regulate body temperature by sweating. When using with a child, operate at a lower temperature and for no more than 15 minutes at a time.
