Chromotherapy is the science of using colors to adjust body vibrations to frequencies that result in health and harmony. Each color possesses frequencies of a specific vibration, and each vibration is related to different physical symptoms. Chromotherapy benefits include physical, emotional, mental and spiritual healing.
Our bodies need the sun’s light to live. And that light can be broken down into various colors of the spectrum. An imbalance of any of those colors can manifest itself in physical and mental symptoms. Color therapy works on various energy points to help balance your body via the full spectrum of visible light, each color addressing a distinct need.
Alternative medicine practitioners who use chromotherapy often relate the various colors of the color spectrum to specific body areas.
Red supports circulatory and nervous functions. Red is believed to increase the pulse, raise blood pressure and increase the rate of breathing.
Orange stimulates mental activity and optimism. Orange hues can also activate and eliminate localized fat.
Yellow is believed to awaken mental inspiration and a feeling of joy. This color can also purify the skin, help with digestion and strengthen the nervous system.
Green is associated with harmony and provides a neutral, positive calming effect. Green can help individuals who suffer from Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD).
Blue promotes relaxation and calm. Blue exhibits tranquilizing qualities often used to relieve headaches and migraines, colds, stress and nervous tension. Some research has shown that blue lights kill bacteria which makes this color good for reducing acne.
Violet color light therapy has been shown to help individuals with chronic pain conditions, such as multiple sclerosis or fibromyalgia, maintain a sense of “mind over matter”. The violet hue calms the nervous system, soothes organs and relaxes muscles.
